The various Surveys conducted by the Government and Non- Governmental Organizations indicated the lack of employability skills for the Youth of the Country. In order to solve this issue, the Government has taken different steps which includes the formation of the new portfolio in the area of Skill development, the formation of the National Skill Qualification Framework, measures to combat the lack of skills and programmes to train the individuals in their area of interest to suit the industry needs. Such programmes are incorporated as a part of the curriculum as Value added courses. These courses help a particular individual to develop their own skills in their chosen field of the study.

College of Engineering Kallooppara in tune with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) also offers several value-added programs that will benefit the students and General Public to expertise in their fields of study and to acquire required skills. A Skill Development Cell is exclusively formed for this. The Govt. of Kerala has supported for setting up a Skill Delivery Platform Kerala (SDPK) infrastructure costing Rs.65 lakhs in the institution. An Advanced Skill Development Centre (ASDC) is also sanctioned by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Kerala. Several courses and internships of several providers are offered through this centre and details of which are listed below.

The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India, is implementing the flagship skill development scheme of Government of India - Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0). With the roll-out of the National Education Policy (NEP) in 2020, there has been a renewed focus on vocational skill training imparted by schools and higher education institutes, thus integrating mainstream academics with practical vocational skill training.

 

PMKVY 4.0

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0) will be implemented between FY 2022-26 with a strong emphasis on making the programme candidate-centric by creating an enabling ecosystem to meet the emerging sectoral needs. More information on PMKVY can be assessed at www.pmkvyofficial.org with guidelines of previous versions of PMKVY.

 

Objective of the Scheme:

a.       Promote an enabling ecosystem for the youth to get skilled and choose a career path aligned with their abilities and aspirations.

b.       Enable the delivery of skill training in a market-oriented and demand-driven manner by making the existing skilling ecosystem more flexible, swift, and geared to meet the emerging demand.

c.        Process overhauling of the skill ecosystem by leveraging technology, innovative financing,

and digitalization.

Selection of Candidates:

a.       The scheme targets school/college dropouts, out-of-education, and unemployed youths in

the age group of 15-45 years.

b.       Eligibility criteria for selection of candidates is defined in the respective course curriculum of

Job Role to be offered.

 

 Implementation

a.       National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is the implementing arm of the Ministry and

shall provide all required handholding support and technical assistance in implementation of PMKV 4.0

b.       The entire training life cycle from enrolment to certification and tracking will be done

through Skill India Portal/Digital for which necessary orientation and handholding support will be provided by NSDC (www.skillindia.gov.in). 

c.        On-the-Job Training (OJT) has been mandated under the scheme in applicable Job Roles.

d.      Assessment and certification would be done through the third-party agencies namely, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) or any other National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) approved awarding body. The State Education Board/Technical Education Board can also become an awarding body under NCVET.

      e.       Mandatory daily Aadhar Enabled Biometric attendance System (AEBAS) for Candidate, Trainer, and Assessor.

Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning (AI/ML)

The program is designed in collaboration with industry and academia has developed NSQF level 8 course curriculum for Engineering students and graduates. The course will enhance the knowledge in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and will help the students to develop the skillsets required in the field. Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning certification provide an academic gateway for the 4.0 industry. Amazon Web Services Cloud Certification Program(AWS Cloud)

The opportunities for “cloud computing skills” are increasing tremendously as most of the companies are moving towards cloud-based services. Amazon Web Service Certificate is one of the highly demanded certificates in cloud space. This course provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy offers a robust set of complementary tools,resources, and certification for students to skill up on the cloud and prepare for the emerging job market and also for the educators looking to enhance the learning experience with cloud computing content. The program has online self-learning instructional content and assessments.

Salesforce Foundation/ Developer Course

Salesforce is a customer relationship management solution system that brings companies and customers together. It’s an integrated CRM platform that gives all the departments including different marketing, sales, commerce, and service a single, shared view of every customer.

The Salesforce ecosystem is growing and is expected to create 0.5 million jobs in India by 2025 and hence ASAP is inviting all students to embark on this online journey where Salesforce shall provide curated content which will help them learn the Salesforce skills that employers seek to be a Salesforce Developer and also a  Salesforce Administrator. The courses will be self-learning programs with guided self-learning and self guided modules. Google Associate Cloud Engineer Certification Program

Associate Cloud Engineer certification training is an online programme offered by Google. The programme has online self-learning instructional content and assessments. The learners will get free access to Google Cloud resources (approx. $350 value).

The programme consists of a Coursera offering the fundamentals of Google Cloud Programme, Essential Cloud Infrastructure, Elastic cloud Infrastructure Reliable cloud Infrastructure along with study jam sessions. Ui Path Robotic Process Automation Developer Course

Robotic Process Automation is the technology that allows anyone today to configure computer software, or a “robot” to emulate and integrate the actions of a human interacting within digital systems to execute a business process. RPA robots utilize the user interface to capture data and manipulate applications just like humans do.

The course is conducted online and will give an understanding on basic Programming concepts and the underlying logic/ structure to describe RPA, where it can be applied and how its implemented, to describe the different types of variables, Control Flow and data manipulation techniques, to understand Image, Text and Data Tables Automation and to describe automation to Email and various types of Exceptions and strategies to handle.
